Auditions for 2026 — Sunday 16th November

At Devon Dance Centre, we believe that every dancer is unique, and every journey is different. Our full-time vocational course for students aged 7+ is crafted to support individual growth, placing the student at the centre of everything we do.

Classes are small and personalised, giving each dancer the opportunity to receive one-to-one guidance from our dedicated, professional teachers. This is a space where students can develop their technique, artistry, and confidence without the pressure of competition or unnecessary stress.

Our course is not just about dance—it’s about creating a nurturing, pastoral environment where students can explore who they are, build resilience, and flourish as individuals. While academic tutoring is not provided, the dance centre will be offering advice on homeschooling modules, as well as a study space for students to complete their academic studies during the day.

Every element of our course is designed to help young dancers grow at their own pace, find their own voice, and enjoy the process of learning in a supportive, inspiring community. At Devon Dance Centre, we don’t just teach dance—we nurture the dancer, the artist, and the student.

What Our Vocational Course Offers

Classical Ballet Technique
Our Classical Ballet Technique classes are designed to refine and expand your dance skills beyond the constraints of a structured syllabus. These sessions focus on developing port de bras, technical strength, and artistry, enabling dancers to explore advanced steps, transitions, and stylistic nuances at their own pace. With expert guidance, students deepen their understanding of alignment, turnout, and musicality while enhancing overall technique. Benefits include increased flexibility, core strength, balance, and confidence, alongside the opportunity to experiment with new movements and enrich personal expression in dance.

Body Conditioning and Ballet Pilates
Ballet Pilates and Body Conditioning classes are designed to optimize a dancer’s physical performance and resilience. Ballet Pilates focuses on core strength, flexibility, and alignment through Pilates-based exercises tailored for dancers, enhancing control, balance, and posture. Body Conditioning complements this by targeting key muscle groups to improve stamina, prevent injury, and build overall muscular strength. Together, these sessions develop core stability, muscular control, and body awareness, supporting fluidity, precision, and expressive performance on stage.

Repertoire
Repertoire classes immerse students in the artistry of performance, exploring classical and contemporary works to enhance interpretative and expressive skills. Dancers engage with challenging choreography, emphasizing musicality, phrasing, and character development. These sessions build confidence, stage presence, and performance endurance, while encouraging creativity and individuality within the stylistic framework of ballet. Regular repertoire work allows dancers to experience the full spectrum of performance demands, preparing them for exams, competitions, and professional opportunities.

Choreography
Choreography classes are designed to develop a dancer’s creativity, musicality, and movement vocabulary. Students learn to craft original sequences, explore different styles, and refine their understanding of dynamics, space, and timing. These classes encourage expressive storytelling through movement while improving spatial awareness, coordination, and performance quality. Regular practice supports dancers in developing their own artistic voice and confidence on stage.

Pas de Deux
Pas de Deux classes teach the artistry, partnering skills, and technical precision required for performing duets. Dancers develop lifts, supported turns, and synchronized phrasing while learning to connect with a partner safely and confidently. These classes enhance musicality, coordination, and stage presence, preparing students for performances.

Contemporary
Contemporary classes encourage creative expression and versatility in movement. Students explore floor work, release techniques, and fluid transitions, enhancing body awareness, flexibility, and musicality. These sessions expand technical range and artistic interpretation, complementing classical training and performance skills.

Cecchetti Syllabus
Cecchetti Syllabus classes offer a structured approach to classical ballet, following the renowned method developed by Enrico Cecchetti. Through a progressive sequence of exercises and variations, students develop precision, balance, and a deep understanding of classical technique. Emphasis is placed on port de bras, coordination, strength, and expressive artistry, alongside theoretical knowledge of ballet principles. Benefits include disciplined technique, graceful movement, and enhanced performance quality, providing a solid foundation for examinations, solo work, and professional advancement.

Pointe Work
Pointe Work classes are designed for dancers ready to safely explore dancing on pointe. Open to all students, these sessions develop ankle strength, alignment, and control while introducing classical pointe exercises, variations, and artistry. Students build confidence, balance, and elegance, enhancing their overall ballet technique.
